Welcome to SCVi!
This New Family Information section has been designed specifically for
families entering SCVi. Below, you will find answers to many of your questions as well as useful information to
help you prepare for the new school year.
Parent
participation is an integral part of our program. To make the transition
a smooth one for your learner(s) and yourself, do keep yourself
informed of school events and parent programs.
Registration Process and Requirements: Please make sure that you turn in a completed enrollment packet. All items must be completed in full for your learner to be able to start school.
As part of the registration process, you will be asked to view the SCVi Educational Philosophy, Discipline Policy, and Parent Participation Plan. Please also make sure to provide a birth certificate or passport and current immunization records. If your learner is entering 7th-10th grade, you must also provide proof of the Tdap (whooping cough) booster. For our entering kindergarteners, you must provide proof of the kindergarten (5-year) physical and oral assessment.
Communication: The main source of communication at SCVi will be through online means via the
SCVi website, Monday Message, and Blackboard. Please sign up for the Monday Message using this link. Blackboard messages are received via phone message, text, and e-mail and are sent to the primary contact as provided on your student's emergency card. If you are not receiving
Blackboard messages or need to update your contact information, please contact the
registrar.
Parent Ambassador Program: The Parent Ambassador Program matches new families with veteran families who can help you navigate SCVi
as a new family. If you are interested in participating in the Parent Ambassador Program, please contact the
Parent Ambassadors.
Important Dates and Calendars: The Instructional Days Calendar as well as Community Calendar (events around school) are available under the
Calendar and Events tab on the SCVi website. The
Monday Message is also an essential resource for current events and programs within the school.
School Lunch: SCVi now offers a school lunch program. More information can be found on
The Cafe page, located under the Parent Portal tab.
Family Participation/Volunteering: SCVi
seeks to make education a community passion. To this end, parent
participation is essential to the success of the education process. Each family will commit to 80 hours per year of participation (this works out to 2 hours per week, or 8 hours per month). Volunteer needs will be announced via the
Monday Message, sign-up sheets at school events, and on the
Family Participation / Volunteering page.
Annual Family Giving: The Annual Family Giving Campaign is our top
fund-raising priority--and the fund-raiser we ask EVERY family to support. Your participation encourages others to give, helps persuade foundations and corporations to invest in our schools, and sends a message to the community that SCVi makes a difference. Please see the
Annual Family Giving page for more information.
